Care and safety

Does Ayara replace my NHS maternity care?

No. Ayara works alongside your NHS care. Keep going to your booking appointment, scans and midwife or GP appointments. We help you understand them, prepare questions and feel supported in between.

What if it’s an emergency?

Ayara is not an emergency service. If you think you or your baby are in danger, call 999. If you’re pregnant and worried about bleeding, pain, fluid leaking or a change in your baby’s movements, contact your maternity unit straight away, day or night. Don’t wait for a reply from us. If you feel unable to keep yourself safe, call 999, or in England call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option.

Who are the midwives?

Every Ayara midwife is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and has experience in UK maternity care. “Midwife” is a protected title in the UK, and you can check any of our midwives on the NMC register. You’ll meet your team on your first video call.

Can you prescribe medication or order tests?

No. We give advice, information and support, and we’ll tell you clearly when you need to see your GP, your NHS midwife or a specialist.

How is Ayara regulated?

[CONFIRM BEFORE LAUNCH: CQC registration status, ICO registration number and complaints process.] Our midwives are individually regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Membership and payments

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. Memberships are monthly and you can cancel before your next payment date.

How do payments work?

Payments are taken securely by Stripe. You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. We never see or store your card details.

Can I switch plans as my stage changes?

Yes. When your baby arrives, Ayara Premium moves straight into postpartum support. You can switch plans at any time.

Using Ayara

How do I talk to my midwife?

Through chat and video on your phone. Once you join, we send a welcome message and book your first video call with your midwife team. Chat hours depend on your plan: 8am to 8pm on Baby Ayara, and 24 hours a day on Ayara Premium and Ayara Postpartum Premium. [CONFIRM RESPONSE TIMES]

Do you cover the whole UK?

Yes. Ayara is virtual, so you can use it wherever you live in the UK.

Can my partner join calls?

Of course. Partners are welcome on video calls and can message the team with you.

Is my information private?

Yes. Your conversations and health information are confidential and handled under UK GDPR. We only share information with your consent, or where the law requires it to keep you or your baby safe.
