Ask a midwife

Can I keep exercising now I’m pregnant?

Usually, yes. Staying active is good for you and your baby. Keep to exercise you’re used to, avoid contact sports, and stop and tell your midwife if anything feels wrong.

Questions

Good to know.

More answers on our FAQ page, or message us on WhatsApp.

Does Ayara replace my NHS maternity care?

No. Ayara works alongside your NHS care. Keep going to your booking appointment, scans and midwife or GP appointments. We help you understand them, prepare questions and feel supported in between.

What if it’s an emergency?

Ayara is not an emergency service. If you think you or your baby are in danger, call 999. If you’re pregnant and worried about bleeding, pain, fluid leaking or a change in your baby’s movements, contact your maternity unit straight away, day or night. Don’t wait for a reply from us. If you feel unable to keep yourself safe, call 999, or in England call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option.

Who are the midwives?

Every Ayara midwife is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and has experience in UK maternity care. “Midwife” is a protected title in the UK, and you can check any of our midwives on the NMC register. You’ll meet your team on your first video call.

Can my partner join calls?

Of course. Partners are welcome on video calls and can message the team with you.
